Secondary School Conference Groups are a great introduction into the St Vincent de Paul Society, allowing members to experience its ethos, while developing leadership skills. They can provide students with opportunities to put their faith into action by actively coordinating volunteer driven projects, events and initiatives that allow students to reflect on the needs in their community, help develop empathy, compassion and understanding with their fellow students, and share their passion to raise awareness about social justice issues.

Secondary School Fundraising Activities

Your school  may want to support us through fundraising activities throughout the year. Fundraising activities can help students learn about the disadvantages people face in their community and how they can help others, along with raising awareness and valuable funds that can support Vinnies WA.  We have a number of fundraising ideas as well as how you can support us through our annual Winter and Christmas Appeal.

2022 Winter Appeal

Domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness for women and children.

The theme of this year’s Winter Appeal is ‘Stopping the violence starts with a safe place to sleep’, focusing on the importance of providing safety to families and individuals fleeing domestic violence. By helping families find a safe place to sleep, Vinnies is enabling them to escape the violence in their homes, without enduring the trauma and pain of living on the streets.

Secondary School Events

Holding events can be a fun way to engage both students and your local community, and support Vinnies at the same time. Fundraising events can give students a shared goal to reach, to work together to achieve that goal and then see the results from their hard work. Vinnies WA has a range of great event ideas that could suit your Secondary school and provide a unique insight into how the money will make a difference in your community.

School Sleepout

A Vinnies School Sleepout gives students and school communities a glimpse of the realities of homelessness on a personal level by ‘sleeping rough’ for one night. The Vinnies School Sleepout not only aims to raise awareness and provide vital funds towards programs to support people experiencing homelessness and poverty, it also encourages students and teachers to gain a deeper understanding of the realities faced by people experiencing homelessness.
