Care packs bring joy to clients and pets

For many West Australians, a home without a dog or cat is not complete. But for those experiencing homelessness, having a furry friend around can offer much-needed companionship and comfort.

Tom Fisher House, a Vinnies service that offers short-term accommodation for up to 12 adults, is one of only a few places that welcomes clients’ pets too.

Thanks to RSPCA WA, clients were able to give their companion animals a little Christmas present this year.

The animal welfare organisation prepared and donated dozens of pet companion packs, which are filled with goodies and helpful items that will help clients look after their pets.

Vinnies Manager of Homelessness Services Niamh Kiely thanked the RSPCA for donating the pet companion packs, which she expected would make a big difference.

“Anyone that has a pet of their own knows the comfort and real friendship that they provide. We know that these pet packs will be greatly appreciated by many,” she said.
